Tyler Jacques Receives Maine Principal’s Award at Upper Kennebec Valley Memorial High School
Upper Kennebec Valley Memorial High School Principal James Tyler has announced that senior Tyler Jacques, son of Andy and Beatrice Jacques, has been selected as the school’s 2026 recipient of the Maine Principal’s Award, a distinction that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.
Presented annually by the Maine Principals' Association, the award honors one senior from each high school in Maine who best exemplifies a commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service.
Jacques has distinguished himself through a highly rigorous academic program that includes Advanced Placement and early college coursework, where he has consistently performed at an exceptional level. His intellectual curiosity and dedication to learning have made him a standout student throughout his high school career.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Jacques serves as captain of the school’s math team and is an active member of the National Honor Society. In both roles, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to collaboration, mentorship, and contributing positively to the school community.
Beyond the classroom, Jacques extends his leadership as captain of a competitive robotics team participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Through this work, he has helped lead his team in designing, building, and competing with advanced robotic systems, showcasing both technical skill and the ability to guide a team toward success.
Principal Tyler noted that Jacques represents the very best of Upper Kennebec Valley Memorial High School, citing his integrity, work ethic, and willingness to support others as qualities that set him apart.
Jacques and Principal Tyler will attend an awards luncheon hosted by the Maine Principals' Association on April 11 at Jeff's Catering in Bangor, where student honorees will be formally recognized.
